RE: Do you lubericate your 5th wheel hitch

I don't use any lube on top of the hitch plate. I have a lube plate there. But I do put white lithium grease around the inside of the hitch latching mechanism where the pin is captured. And I also put the grease around the pivot points on the hitch where it swivels front to back and side to side. me too...

RE: Blue tank use for black water??

I couldn't imagine not using for that, sooner or later both need dumped... its not like you take waste down and bring fresh water back in it... you don't, do you...:) Now that's GROSS!!!

RE: 18V Drill and Scissor Jacks

Hold the drill tight! If it has a torque setting (where it will just "click" when it gets so tight), find the best setting for your setup. If it has a side handle for holding that's even better. When the jacks get too tight, the drill will torque in your hands. A strong 18V can feel likes its breaking your wrist or pop up and hit you.

RE: Heating with no Electricity??????

I'm with Lantley...since this is first time boondocking with no definite plans for more in future go with what you got. If you make plans for many more weekends then invest in new heater and/or batteries. If battery goes dead, perhaps it will force y'all to "rekindle" the marriage :B :B :B

RE: New laptop and download into with no 9 pin connector.

I use a USB to RS232 adapter at work to connect laptop to our network equipment and it works great. Sometimes it can be finicky as to which com: port it picks up the first time but once its setup always works great if I use same USB port.

RE: Are there any Diesel shortages

Check the Flying J website, www.flyingj.com . They show their truck stops which have reduced supplies or shortages. That should be indicative of fuel supply and availability in those areas. Yep...until Wed or Thu, their site was showing "Critical" for diesel and all grades of gas for every Flying J in GA. Now, just a few are "Low"

RE: Are there any Diesel shortages

Here in central GA area (about 1/2 way between Atlanta and Macon), we had some diesel outages in addition to the gas. It seems to be headed back to normal but prices are still hanging high on both - $4.19-4.29 for diesel and 3.99-4.09 for gas today.

RE: PICS

Here's one of my favorite pics from our tent camping days...this was at West Point Lake GA in Apr 2004. We've since gone to a popup and now 5'er. My son and I still tent camp with scouts. http://www.mindspring.com/~blpublic/westpoint_20040417/IMAG0010.jpg Here's a sunset shot over the lake my daughter snapped. http://www.mindspring.com/~blpublic/westpoint_20040417/IMAG0006.jpg

RE: Gas Avilablility in GA

Its gotten hard to find but I've not heard of any official rationing although many stations have put up signs asking customers to limit purchase amounts. In our little town, we have 1 station that keeps getting regular and then selling out. Then, there are 3 or 4 stations I've not seen open at all.

RE: Red Top Mountain State Park North Atlanta

I've only been once several years ago and we tent camped then. Sorry, can't recall any specifics on site sizes but the reservation webpage only list max 40' sites. It is a very pretty park though.

RE: Ozark Trail Camping Gear

We've used some of the Ozark Trail gear and it is pretty decent for light usage. I have no idea who makes their gear.

RE: Whats the best portable grill?

Broken record time...Weber Q220 We bought for camping and temporary use at home until we replaced old home grill. Thinking now is to only use the Q220. I'm using adapter hose on 20lb tank at home and Extend-A-Flow for running on 5'er 30lb tanks. No need to lug 1lb bottles around :B Like previous reply, I stick it in bed of truck when we head out camping.

RE: Atlanta Ga. Now running out

DW was down to 1/4 tank in her bug so we went hunting gas at lunch. I'm in a fairly small town. First 2 stations out. 3rd station was regular only. Yesterday evening I rode by this station and it was also out. As I started pumping I made comment they must be running low cause it was pumping slow. At about $35 lady came out and made announcement anyone pumping could finish but they were shutting down due to low tank level. We rode by 4 other stations and they were all regular only.

RE: Atlanta Ga. Now running out

If they are out its only because they forgot to order Daughter said 5 out of 6 stations she went by were out. I guess it is possible all 5 forgot to order!

RE: Atlanta Ga. Now running out

I'm about 65 miles south of Atlanta and many of our local stations ran out today. SIL and family came over from Newnan GA Sunday and said many of their stations were out.

RE: I am amazed ...what goes down won't go up !

Actually, I believe as long as the tank is higher than the connection, gravity will force what goes down to go up except for the water remaining in the hose lower than the connection. If you tank is lower than the connection, sewer snake ain't gonna help.

RE: traveling with items in fridge

Always packed full! Never tried the bars. We've only had a few items shift while traveling to point of falling over/out door. Also, make sure everything is totally sealed/closed.
